Meet husband and wife Carolyn and Andy Grima – two of our valued 500-plus volunteers who ‘work’ in our Op Shop Warehouse in Wantirna!

The retired pair have been giving their time – Carolyn as a ‘sorter’ and Andy as a driver – for five years.

“Time goes so fast when you’re having fun,” says Carolyn, who followed her husband’s lead into volunteering once she retired.

The former hairdresser, business owner and retail employee says sorting the op shop goods is right up her alley.

“I’m a great op shop purchaser… I love a bargain and have a keen eye for fashion. I’ve even bought myself some lovely pieces from the warehouse!”

Andy says he loves his driving role.

At VMCH you connect with lovely people and form a wonderful circle of friends.”

Carolyn agreed, encouraging others to consider volunteering.

“The friendships are amazing and you’re giving something back to the community. I think everybody who’s retired should take on some kind of volunteering role to give them purpose and meaning. The rewards are endless.”

We are always looking for new volunteers for a variety of roles.
