Our Current Appeal: Growing Together

Our new fundraising campaign, Growing Together, will raise $90,000 to create a Sensory Garden at Wantirna aged care residence, designed to inspire peace and connection for our residents.

Creating a Sensory Garden at Wantirna

Moving into aged care can be a big adjustment, especially for residents who leave behind cherished gardens nurtured through years of love and care.

Beryl, aged 84, joined our Wantirna aged care home last year, and while she has embraced new friendships and experiences, she misses the joy her garden once brought her.“I loved all my different coloured roses and my magnolia tree,” Beryl shares. “My daughter, who’s an avid gardener, would always say, ‘Mum, I’m so proud of you having all these plants’.”

The Sensory Garden is not only a gift to our Wantirna Aged Care residents—it is a pilot program that we hope to replicate in our aged care homes across Victoria, bringing its joy and benefits to hundreds more.

You can help make this dream a reality

Your gift can help create a Sensory Garden where residents can reconnect with nature, share memories, build friendships and enjoy a vibrant community space.

Sensory gardens enhance life for people with dementia and other conditions by supporting cognitive function, boosting wellbeing, and stimulating all five senses.

More than this, our garden will foster shared purpose and friendship. Features include fruit and veggie patches, potting sheds, vibrant flower beds, and chickens, giving residents meaningful opportunities to connect with nature every day.
